Basil, my sweet 8 year old beagle, has had numerous ailments since he was born. Blind at birth, arthritis in both hips since 2 years old, and chronic bronchitis. His arthritis has progressively gotten worse through the years with much pain. Although on Cosequin DS for 2 years now, you could tell that there was still some pain. During the winter months, his arthritis worsens to where he can barely go down or come up the stairs to go in and out of the house. He would lie around with no energy.
We were blessed to have found Carrie who has been caringly massaging Basil. His energy has increased and he can even stand on his back legs for a good period of time to greet us which he could or would never do before. Now Basil can live the rest of his life with comfort and quality of life which he didn’t really have before.
Carrie is very patient and gentle. She sincerely cares for him as if he was her pet. She definitely has a gift of comforting him to sleep with her massages and knowing where and how to touch the areas of concern. He has a look and movement that tells her that something is uncomfortable and she queues in on those signs. We are so very thankful for her gift.

I suffered a bad sports injury to my calf muscle and was training for a 10K road race. Had it not been for Ocean Waves and the expert massage I received my race would have been in doubt. After the massage I was able to run the race and have been pain free ever since.
If I have another injury I will not hesitate to call Ocean Waves for their expert services.

I have an elderly miniature schnauzer who is having pain due to a spinal injury some time back. He has elevated liver enzymes and is unable to use NSAIDS. His veterinarian put him on Tramadol, but I guess the side effects of the Tramadol were too much for him because he starts to tremble within 30 minutes of taking his dose. I was at a loss of what to do with his pain management and anxiety. Then, I found Carrie.
She has been doing canine massage therapy on him for over 8-10 weeks now and he's a new dog. His pain has lessened and he's calmer. When she arrives at my house, he will not leave her side. Before she even starts the massage, he lies down next to her and his eyes roll backward and he starts to sleep. I've never seen anything like it. I was able to lengthen the time between her visits to once every 2 weeks and we're working on every 3 weeks now.
Carrie is prompt and professional. My dogs love her. I think so much of her knowledge and services that I asked her to also massage another one of my dogs, Gizmo, who was limping. She just did some very gentle stretches with him. I ended up taking him to the vet where he gave a diagnosis of possible anterior cruciate ligament tear. I will not continue therapy with him because he most likely will need surgical repair.
In short, Carrie is terrific and the work she is doing is very needed in the Richmond area. I realize that not everyone is as open to alternative therapies for their animals, but I am. I believe there is a place for it as an adjunct to traditional veterinarian care. My vet, Dr.Mark Gottschalk at Wellesley Animal Hospital, thinks my dog, Wolfgang is a lucky little guy that I would give him these massage therapy sessions in addition to the care he is getting at Wellesley.
